My Adventure...

In about a week, I will be heading out on a 15 hour flight to South Africa for the month of February! After doing a lot of research on volunteer programs, I found the perfect one for me! It is a Photography and Conservation Project with the company African Impact. They are the largest African based volunteer organization having over 50 projects around Africa. I will be on the Thanda private game reserve in the southeastern area of South Africa. I will be photographing many animals on the 35 acre reserve, learning how to track them, allow my database of pictures to be used for the conservation effort, work closely with the two schools in the community, and much more. For the first week at Thanda, I will be spending it with a professional photographer who will teach us additional photography skills. It is Summer over there now, so the days will be very warm with occasional rain. On the weekends there are some amazing trips we can go on. The first weekend I will be going to Rocktail Bay near the coast. I am very excited for this once in a lifetime opportunity! I am going to try and post as much as I can on this blog when I get access to internet. This will most likely be on the weekends. Keep checking back!
